Edward F. Person saved Kathleen M. Harte from assault, Moultonborough, New Hampshire, August 14, 1984. Miss Harte, 23, a state trooper, struggled with a prisoner in the front seat of her patrol car for control of her fully loaded gun. From his nearby house, Person, 29, farmer, approached the car, in which he saw the prisoner aim the gun directly at Miss Harte. Person leaned into the car and placed his hands over the gun’s hammer, thereby preventing the gun from being fired. After several minutes of struggling with the prisoner, who greatly outweighed them, Miss Harte and Person fled. The prisoner escaped in the patrol car. 60567-6981
