Edward R. Strobl rescued Stefanie A. Driscoll from assault, Warwick, New York, November 19, 1989. At night, Miss Driscoll, 21, screamed as she struggled in her apartment with a man who was stabbing her. A neighbor, Strobl, 29, parts manager, heard the commotion and entered the apartment, where he heard Miss Driscoll call for help. Strobl confronted the assailant and struck him, causing the assailant to turn on Strobl. A struggle ensued between the two men, during which Miss Driscoll was able to flee the apartment. Strobl also was stabbed by the assailant, who then fled. Strobl was hospitalized one week for multiple stab wounds, and he recovered. Miss Driscoll was mortally wounded.
