Elizabeth M. Wascoe, 32, housewife, saved Virginia M. Deegan, 3, from being killed by a streetcar, West Homestead, Pennsylvania, August 26, 1917. Virginia ran onto a track ahead of a streetcar that was running 15 m.p.h. Mrs. Wascoe ran 27 feet to her and threw her off the track, but the car struck Mrs. Wascoe. She was cut and bruised, her leg was sprained, and she was totally disabled for a month. Virginia was uninjured. 18678-1465
