Emil F. Grabruck, 38, mine superintendent, attempted to save an indeterminate person, or persons, from suffocation, Panama, Illinois, November 11, 1910. (See case of JOHN J. WILBER.) Grabruck, who joined Wilber and his two companions in the gassy entry, was able to go nearer to the scene of the explosion than they, and he assisted two men toward fresh air. He became too weak to continue his efforts, started to crawl to good air, lost his way, and became unconscious. He was taken from the mine later and revived. The men he tried to rescue lost their lives. 7647-636
