Ernest W. Henderson died attempting to save Dema T. Nelson, 26, from drowning, St. Petersburg, Florida, January 30, 1915. Henderson, 31, painter, who was dressed, ran about 150 feet to the end of a dock at the scene and dived and swam 60 feet to Miss Nelson. He and Miss Nelson struggled together for a few seconds and then became separated. Henderson was in distress, and when a young man swam out to aid Miss Nelson, he grasped the young man and pulled him beneath the surface. The young man struggled and freed himself but was too tired then to aid Henderson. Henderson sank and was drowned. (See case of RUTH E. MCNEELY.)
