Ernest Warren Schupp died attempting to save Earl F. Bryant from drowning, Heeney, Colorado, June 28, 1947. A boat which Bryant, 49, real estate broker, was operating in Green Mountain Reservoir capsized in very cold, turbulent water, and Bryant was thrown from the boat. He was injured by the propeller and called for help as he was carried farther from the bank by a strong current opposite the mouth of a creek that flowed into the reservoir through a steep chute. Schupp, 22, clerk, who was fully clothed, ran to the bank and after removing his shoes swam 165 feet to within 95 feet of Bryant. He suddenly raised his arms, sank, and did not reappear. Bryant was later brought to the bank by a man wearing a jacket life-preserver but could not be revived. Schupp’s body was recovered the following day. 41369-3566
