Erwin J. Roller, 14, schoolboy, saved William F. Lehman, 12, from drowning, Manchester, Michigan, December 25, 1905. Erwin pulled William from a hole in the ice on Raisin River, 75 feet from the bank, where the water was 15 feet deep and the current swift. He broke through the ice with one leg himself, while crawling to the hole through water on top of the ice. 1278-175
