Ethel J. Danson, 23, saved Dorothy D. Jaquish, 17, from drowning, Newman Lake, Washington, July 1, 1916. Dorothy became distressed 30 feet from the shore of Newman Lake, where the water was about 12 feet deep. Miss Danson swam to her, fully dressed, but was seized and submerged twice by her. Dorothy then became unconscious, and Miss Danson swam with her to a boat 15 feet away. Dorothy was revived. 16833-1302
