Ezra C. Lawrence, 31, teamster, died attempting to save Joseph F. Harding, 18, soldier, from being killed by a train, Enfield, New Hampshire, April 21, 1917. Harding was sitting on a chair in a covered railroad bridge with his feet on the rail of the track, apparently unaware that a fast train was approaching. Lawrence heard the train and ran ahead of it toward Harding, calling to him, but both men were struck and killed by the train. 17880-1346
