Floyd F. Reece saved Gertrude E. Waldrep from drowning, Post, Texas, July 5, 1926. Gertrude, 17, who could not swim, stepped into deep water while wading in a pond. Reece, 24, farmer, who was a poor swimmer, waded cautiously toward her, and in water to his neck he reached to take hold of her. She grabbed his arm, and he was pulled into deep water. In a struggle, in which he was twice submerged, Gertrude kept grabbing at Reece, and he kept trying to shove her toward the bank as he walked on the bottom six to eight feet in water over his head. He then reached wadable water, and with his assistance Gertrude waded to the bank. 26578-2112
