Frances E. Hall, 14, schoolgirl, saved Nellie M. Rathbun, 24, from drowning, Canandaigua, New York, August 30, 1908. Frances swam 20 feet in Canandaigua Lake to Miss Rathbun, who had become panic-stricken, and after a brief struggle swam 9 feet with her. She was unable to swim farther but supported Miss Rathbun by treading water until assistance reached them. 2983-258
