Frank B. Bence died attempting to save Edward Pramuk from drowning, Akron, Ohio, June 6, 1921. Edward, 9, fell into Akers Pond, where the water was 50 feet deep, and rose eight feet from the bank. Frank, 12, schoolboy, ran to a point on the bank above Edward and slid down the bank, which was about 20 feet high and almost perpendicular, into the water. He swam to Edward and grasped him by the hair, but Edward struggled, and Frank lost his hold. Both boys sank and were drowned. 21996-1753
