Frank Beaumont, 36, farmer and boatman, died attempting to save John G. C. Beaumont, 9, from drowning, Beaumaris, Ontario, July 27, 1912. John fell into Muskoka Lake, where the water was 10 feet deep, from a boat running at a speed of 15 m.p.h. The wind was blowing 25 m.p.h., and the waves were five feet high. Beaumont, John’s uncle, ran to the side and dived after him. He swam 80 feet to John, and John placed his hands on Beaumont’s neck or head. Beaumont then threw up his hands and sank. John struggled at the surface a few seconds, when he also sank, about the time the boat was turning. Both were drowned. 8946-711
