Frank Beckman, 44, clerk, saved Arnold Veneman, 3, from a runaway, Covington, Kentucky, July 17, 1920. Arnold was playing on a sidewalk in the path of a horse that ran away and was galloping wildly. It was hitched to a buggy. When the horse was 16 feet from Arnold, Beckman ran about 15 feet and jumped down a terrace, 3.5 feet high, to within a foot of Arnold. He picked him up and stepped backward with him, at the same time bending backward and just clearing the horse and buggy. 20632-1818
