Frank Clark, 58, crossing watchman, prevented a train from being wrecked, saving the passengers and crew, Becket, Massachusetts, February 18, 1930. A telephone pole, 40 feet long, lay across a railroad track on which a passenger train was approaching at a speed of 45 m.p.h. Clark, who was very heavy and in poor physical condition, with great effort shoved the pole from the track and got in the clear himself just as the locomotive passed at full speed.
