Frank I. Baine died after helping to save Wanda Wright and Michael E. Landry from drowning, Honey Harbour, Ontario, July 26, 1981. During a sudden storm, Wanda, 16, Michael, 15, and four other youths screamed for help as they clung to their overturned boat in the waters of Georgian Bay. Despite having a heart condition, Baine, 60, assistant sales manager, rowed a dinghy, to them from his boat, which was moored nearby. He hoisted Wanda aboard and, as Michael held to an attached rope, began to row against the current and wind toward safety. A man soon arrived in a power boat and towed them the rest of the way. Before Baine could leave the dinghy, he suffered a fatal heart attack.
