Frederick H. Hanker, 11, schoolboy, saved Emmons T. Gray, 8, from drowning, Ellenville, New York, May 27, 1905. Emmons fell into Beerkill Creek, and when Frederick swam to his assistance, he struggled so frantically that Frederick was almost exhausted and was compelled to leave him. After resting a moment, Frederick made another attempt and got Emmons to shore. 638-110
