G. James Shaw, 40, foreman, rescued Harry M. Videan, 36, laborer, from a machine, Goderich, Ontario, September 14, 1908. Shaw, one attempt having failed, pulled off a belt traveling 4,000 feet a minute, in response to a cry from Videan, who was entangled in a rope and being crushed by the machine. The belt came off just as Shaw’s arm came in contact with the pulley, but he was not injured. Videan was badly injured, but recovered. 3652-508
