George A. Blitch, 31, laborer, saved John R. Northcutt, 32, laborer, from suffocation, Palopinto, Texas, August 19, 1909. (See case of ELIJAH A. WALKER.) Blitch ran to the well and asked two men to descend and assist Walker. They refused, and, immediately after Walker reached the surface, Blitch had himself lowered. He had considerable difficulty in tying Northcutt and asked for assistance, but the men at the surface refused to descend. He tied Northcutt to the well rope, and he was raised to the surface. The rope was lowered, and Blitch was drawn up after having been in the well 10 minutes. He had a headache but suffered no other ill effects. 5832-652
