George H. Florian, 31, postmaster, saved Minnie M., 23; Ross D., Jr., 2, and Virginia M. Sanders, 6, from being struck by a train, Grand Junction, Michigan, October 4, 1928. Mrs. Sanders drove the automobile in which she, Virginia, and Ross were riding onto a railroad crossing and stalled the motor as a train was approaching at a speed of 30 m.p.h. Florian ran 35 feet to the front of the automobile. With great effort he pushed the car backward off the track. Just as Florian cleared the track, the train passed at greatly reduced speed. 28748-2383
