Glen Goss died as the result of assisting in an attempt to rescue Randy H. Postma from an armed assailant, Las Vegas, Nevada, May 26, 1975. Highway patrolman Postma, 21, became involved in a struggle with a traffic violator, who managed to obtain the patrolman’s revolver. During the struggle, the gun was fired twice; and one of the bullets grazed the head of Postma, who continued wrestling with the assailant. Among those attracted were Goss, 49, truckdriver, and an insurance company manager, each of whom ran to opposite sides of the struggling men. The revolver went off two more times while the insurance company manager tried to pin the gun hand of the assailant and Goss struck at him twice with a hammer. The assailant fired the fifth bullet and then fled in his automobile. Goss was found to have been shot, the wound being fatal. 54694-6278
