Glen Rakestraw, 22, farmhand, saved Oscar J. Heim, 41, farmer, from an enraged bull, Havre, Montana, June 7, 1926. As Heim was pursuing the bull in a pasture, it charged, knocking him down, and continued to attack him. Rakestraw ran to the bull and prodded it in the head with a fork. He then took hold of a short chain that was attached to a ring in the bull’s nose and pulled the bull away from Heim. Heim was seriously injured but crawled toward a fence. The bull backed Rakestraw around in a circle and made rushes at him at intervals. Rakestraw held the bull for more than 10 minutes until a youth arrived with a gun and shot it. Heim recovered. 26325-2282
