Glenn W. McCluer, 14, schoolboy, died attempting to save Raymond W. Hooker, 14, schoolboy, from drowning, Fruitland, Idaho, July 9, 1917. Raymond waded into a branch of the Snake River, got into deep water, struggled wildly in water seven feet deep, and began drifting downstream.
