Guerdon A. Babcock, 20, teamster, saved W. Fred Edwards, 20, teamster, from drowning, Corbett, New York, July 13, 1925. While Edwards was swimming in the East Branch of the Delaware River, he got into distress and called for help. Babcock, who was tired from having helped another swimmer, swam 30 feet through deep water to him. Edwards grasped Babcock’s shoulders and pulled him under the surface. After a short struggle, Babcock jerked loose. He took hold of Edwards just as Edwards was sinking and swam 27 feet to wadable water. Edwards was unconscious but was revived. 25473-2074
