Guy Charron rescued Pierre N. Dorneval from assault, Laval, Quebec, August 5, 1991. Dorneval, 46, was driving his taxi when his passenger produced a loaded revolver and threatened him with it. Dorneval struggled with the assailant for control of the gun, which fired inside the taxi. Dorneval then steered the taxi into a bus that had arrived at the scene. The driver of the bus, Charron, 51, exited to investigate. He opened the front passenger door of the taxi and learned that the assailant was armed, then shut the door and retreated. Unwilling to ignore Dorneval’s call for help, Charron reopened the door and began to struggle with the assailant. He removed the gun from the assailant’s grasp and passed it outside the taxi to another man. Charron and Dorneval then restrained the assailant until police arrived and arrested him.
