Harlan H. Baker, Jr., saved Robert W. Glasgow from drowning, San Benito, Texas, March 12, 1947. While swimming in an irrigation reservoir, Robert, 10, became winded and called for help in water eight feet deep 140 feet from a dock at the bank. Harlan, 11, schoolboy, partly clothed dived from the dock and swam to Robert, who grasped him by the shoulder; and both were submerged. Harlan freed himself, and they rose to the surface. Taking hold of Robert’s clothing, Harlan began towing him, and Robert then grasped the hip pocket of Harlan’s trousers with one hand. Releasing his own hold, Harlan towed Robert to the dock, onto which they climbed. They were tired and winded. 41104-3549
