Harry B. Brooks saved Agnes E. Hagyard and Annie B. Lawson from drowning, Guelph, Ontario, June 25, 1921. Agnes, 14, and Annie, 16, while wading in the Speed River, suddenly stepped into deep water, and their struggles carried them to a point 56 feet from the bank. They went under the surface and rose several times, holding to each other. Brooks, 18, clerk, dived from a bridge to the girls, put an arm around each, and swam with them about 30 feet to wadable water. Others then assisted them to the bank. 21657-1746
