Henry A. Burgevin, 32, locomotive fireman, saved Thomas H. Oades, 62, retired, from being killed by a train, Mission, Texas, January 16, 1929. Oades, who was rather deaf and infirm, started to walk slowly on a track as a train, running 10 m.p.h., was approaching with the locomotive at the rear end of the cars. The engineer did not see him. Burgevin ran 65 feet to him, reaching him when the train was six to eight feet from him. Without stopping, Burgevin seized Oades around the waist with both arms and carried him off the track, clearing the train by about three feet. 29002-2335
