Henry Sandusky died attempting to save Charles W. Aken from drowning, Sandy Creek, New York, September 6, 1931. Aken, 34, insurance adjuster, fell from a heavy rowboat into a bay of Lake Ontario 200 feet from shore and rose six feet from the stern of the boat. Sandusky, 36, pressman, and two other men who were in the boat tried for more than five minutes to take the boat to Aken, but the wind and the waves carried the boat to a point 15 feet from him. Aken then called for help. Sandusky hurriedly removed his shoes and coat, dived toward Aken, rose about halfway to him, and made swimming motions. Aken then sank, and Sandusky sank soon afterward at the point at which he had risen. Both were drowned. 31904-2631
