Herbert G. Barnett, 25, automobile mechanic, attempted to save L. Belin Tobin, 10; W. Harold Creed, 14, and Robert James Stephenson, 14, from drowning, Morobay, Arkansas, July 26, 1921. (See case of ROBERT JAMES STEPHENSON.) Barnett was the young man who entered after Robert had been grasped by the other two boys. After wading 40 feet from the bank, he plunged and rose in front of the boys, who were then 55 feet from the bank. Barnett was grasped by one of the boys and submerged, but he broke the hold under water and supported the boy above water while the others clung to him. He attempted to swim toward the bank but moved no appreciable distance. He and the other boys were a minute later drawn to wadable water by three men. 21753-1941
