Herbert R. Cornell, 12, schoolboy, died attempting to save Carl C. Henry, 12, from drowning, Athens, Ohio, June 28, 1912. Carl, who could swim very little, was bathing in the Hocking River 25 feet from the bank, where the water was 18 feet deep. He became distressed and went beneath the surface. Herbert, who was a good swimmer, waded 15 feet and then swam to Carl, who immediately grabbed him with both arms. The boys struggled and then sank and were drowned. 9223-755
