Howard L. Coles saved Minnie Olwill from being killed by a locomotive, Tarrytown, New York, December 22, 1915. Miss Olwill, 26, who became confused, stopped at the rail of a track on which a locomotive was approaching at a speed of 30 m.p.h. Coles, 49, physician, stepped down off a platform onto ground covered with packed snow and placed one foot against the rail, when the locomotive was about 20 feet from Miss Olwill. He grasped Miss Olwill, who had continued across the track, and jerked her off the track. They cleared the path of the locomotive just before it passed at undiminished speed. 15907-1411
