Hugh E. Wright died attempting to save M. Louise Trotti from drowning, Saint Simon Island, Georgia, July 23, 1926. While wading in the Atlantic Ocean, Louise, 10, lost her footing and was carried by a current into deep water. Wright, 42, merchant, who was a poor swimmer, swam 80 feet toward her. He was struck by a breaker, became helpless, and drifted farther from shore. Two girls who had entered the water with the intention of going to the aid of Louise came upon Wright and swam with him 250 feet to shore. Wright could not be revived. Louise later was rescued by men in a boat.
