Ignatius J. Raif, 22, blacksmith, died rescuing Adolph Riess, 5, from electric shock, Houston, Texas, April 30, 1909. With two sticks, Raif tried to pull an electric wire, carrying 2,300 volts, away from Adolph, who was lying on it unconscious. The wire broke, fell on Raif’s arm, and killed him.
