Jacob C. Casler, 66, farmer, helped to rescue William E. Carey, 50, from a cave-in, Cassville, New Jersey, August 20, 1906. Carey was pinioned in a well 25 feet from the top, his feet having gone through the stone casing while he was bracing himself against it. Casler, with the help of another man, removed the casing from the top down and released Carey at imminent risk of the ground giving away. 2713-192
