James Michael Logan rescued Michael C. Norman from burning, Sheridan, Arkansas, March 29, 1994. Norman, 36, lay semiconscious inside the cab of his tractor trailer after it overturned and caught fire. Logan, 30, truck driver, arrived shortly after the crash and, failing to see anyone at the scene, decided to check the truck for occupants. Although diesel fuel was flowing out of one of the tanks and onto the burning cab, Logan approached the cab and broke out the windshield. He groped inside the cab and, in blistering heat and dense smoke, located Norman. Logan then crawled part way into the cab, grasped Norman’s feet, and pulled him out. As he dragged Norman away from the wreckage, explosions occurred there. Norman was hospitalized for treatment of injuries received during the crash and for burns. Logan recovered from minor burns.
