James R. Abraham died attempting to save Donald S. Brannan from drowning, Bavington, Pennsylvania, June 18, 1978. While swimming in deep water in a lake, Brannan, 20, called for help. Abraham, 22, draftsman, was swimming nearby and swam to Brannan, who greatly outweighed him. About 100 feet from the nearest bank, Brannan took hold of Abraham. A great deal of splashing ensued. Both Abraham and Brannan then sank and drowned.
