James V. Logan, 36, minister, saved D. Ward Denton, 16, student, from drowning, Burnside, Kentucky, July 29, 1909. Logan, partly clothed, swam 25 feet in the Cumberland River and caught Ward, who had sunk in water over his depth. After Logan had swum several feet with him, Ward grabbed Logan about the neck, and a struggle ensued, which almost exhausted Logan. He finally got Ward to shallow water, where others helped to get him to shore. 4608-434
