John Alexander Macleod, 31, newspaper delivery truck driver, died attempting to save Richard G. Thibaul, 10, and William H. Walsh, 14, from drowning, Cranston, Rhode, February 18, 1957. (See case of WILLIAM H. WALSH.) At the hole where Macleod had disappeared, one of the firemen broke through the ice and was aided from the water by the others. The men obtained boats and with grappling hooks recovered Macleod’s body. He could not be revived. 44043-4111
