John Bosko, Jr., 12, schoolboy, saved Michael Ridilla, 7, from drowning, Marblehead, Ohio, March 16, 1907. Michael was carried 200 feet from shore on an ice floe in Lake Erie, and he jumped off. John went in for him and, after swimming with him 100 feet, became almost helpless from cold and exhaustion. He lost his hold on Michael three times. He was finally assisted by a man. 1644-224
