John C. Burns, 42, assistant secretary, New York Stock Exchange, saved Julia Puillier, 35, from drowning, Sea Gate, New York, August 14, 1906. Burns, who was not in health, swam out into the ocean about 200 feet and, assisted part of the way by another person, who later deserted him, succeeded in getting Miss Puillier to within reach of others, but was himself exhausted by his efforts. 1917-120
