John F. Kennedy, 13, schoolboy, died attempting to save Edward A. Pellissier, Jr., 10, from drowning, Holyoke, Massachusetts, July 6, 1904. John swam to the assistance of Edward, who had fallen from a boat into the Connecticut River 40 feet from the bank. After being dragged under twice by Edward, John started for shore alone, but then he returned to the sinking boy and was grabbed around the neck. Both were drowned. 2389-246
