John F. Steinbock helped to rescue Alvah Dean from a cave-in in a well, Frederick, Oklahoma, October 28, 1913. (See case of CHARLES ZOLNINGER.) After the second cave occurred, Zolninger called for someone to aid him and Gordon, and Steinbock, 45, farmer, was the only man in the crowd who offered to go. Steinbock accompanied the two other men into the hole, and it was he who was sawing when the saw stuck in the timber. He and Zolninger worked in turns until Dean was freed. 13259-1068
