John G. Wolfe, 29, assistant yardmaster, died attempting to save A. Reginald Eltringham, 20, clerk, from drowning, West Fairview, Pennsylvania, July 4, 1907. Eltringham was swimming in Conodoguinet Creek 100 feet from the bank, where the water was eight feet deep, when he became ill and called for help. Wolfe dived from the bank and disappeared beneath the surface. His back soon appeared, but he sank and was drowned before he could reach Eltringham. Eltringham also was drowned. 8227-669
