John H. Eden died saving Dorothy H. Fiesser from drowning, Leeds, New York, July 3, 1921. While swimming in Catskill Creek, Miss Fiesser, 18, lost control of herself in deep water 25 feet from the bank. Eden, 20, clerk, swam to her, caught hold of her hand, and swam 15 feet toward the bank with her. Supported by Eden, she then rested a few seconds on a submerged rock, but she slipped off the rock and separated from him. Another young man then reached her and took her to the bank.
