John N. Ciarcia, Jr., saved Anita M. Seavey from drowning, Harrington, Maine, January 30, 1975. When her automobile plunged into a creek and began to sink, Mrs. Seavey, 33, called for help. Among those who witnessed the accident was Ciarcia, 27, electrical contractor, who removed his jacket and entered the cold water. He swam to the sinking automobile, which then went completely under in deep water 45 feet from the bank. After getting the door open, Ciarcia pulled Mrs. Seavey out of the sedan. She struggled with him, causing him to be submerged briefly twice. Ciarcia then towed Mrs. Seavey to the bank. 54498-6175
