John Simington, 76, gardener, helped to save Laura B. Fosmark, 37, from drowning, Hill City, Minnesota, August 24, 1922. After having waded 50 feet from the bank in Hill Lake, Miss Fosmark lost her footing and struggled in deep water five to 10 feet farther from the bank. Simington waded about 50 feet from the bank and then trod water for five or 10 feet to within reach of Miss Fosmark, who was sinking and was unconscious. He caught hold of her fingertips and then put his arm around her waist and attempted to swim. He made no progress and went under the surface with her. The end of a board was then extended to him by a woman in wadable water, and Simington after a time grasped the board and was drawn to wadable water. Miss Fosmark was revived. 22752-1893
