John T. Dunn, Jr., 23, electrician’s helper, died attempting to save an unidentified woman from drowning, New York, New York, July 12, 1923. The woman entered wadable water in the East River, got into water 10 feet deep, and drifted in a current of 4 m.p.h., which was angling from shore. It was at night and was very dark. Dunn followed her into the water, and he was last seen swimming in the current at a distance of six feet behind the woman by another young man, who swam to the woman and got hold of her but soon became separated from her.
