Joseph Feher, 37, roller, died attempting to save Anthony Mazs, 38, roller’s helper, from burning, Bridgeport, Connecticut, December 13, 1922. Mazs’s clothing, which was saturated with kerosene, caught fire after he had thrown a lighted match into some waste at his feet. Although the entire front of Mazs’s clothing was burning, Feher, whose own clothes were saturated with kerosene, ran to him and seized his clothing at the front in an attempt to put out the fire. Feher’s clothes at once took fire. Mazs ran to a sink containing water and threw himself into it, putting out the fire. Feher, after running a short distance, fell to the floor, and workmen extinguished the fire on him by throwing sand on it. Feher died several hours later as a result of his burns, and Mazs died four days later. 22976-1840
