Joseph P. Murphy attempted to save Violet M. Cominetti from drowning, Frontenac, Kansas, June 7, 1923. (See case of FRANCIS A. MURPHY.) When Joseph, 12, schoolboy, pushed his brother toward the bank, Violet, 15, grasped Joseph at the neck. He tried to break her hold but was unable, and they sank together. Violet alone rose to the surface once or twice and then sank and drowned. Three minutes later a man dived, found Joseph, and brought him to the bank. Joseph was resuscitated. 23518-2012
